We recently took a trip to New Orleans for the inaugural Pony Fest, a music festival curated by local musician Grosser. On the lineup, was another home grown performer, R&B artist Evan Lee. Here, he joins us for a session. We asked him a few questions to get to know him a little better.

Who are you?

My name's Matthew Evan Lee, hence my stage/producer name EVANLEE.

How'd you end up in New Orleans?

I'm originally from Baton Rouge, which is only an hour away. Long story short, I went through a breakup with a long term girlfriend and had my heart broken! At the time, there wasn't any pressing reasons why I should stay home. Nola fitted me better anyway. I’ve been here for almost two years now.

What's your game plan this year?

Write, record, produce, collaborate and put out as much music as possible. Play some more lit shows. Get my following up.

Tell us a little about the three songs you played for Out Of Town Films.

“SMN” and “Murasame” are actually two songs from my first and upcoming EP. “SMN” was produced by me and “Murasame” was produced by Milkcraw. Now, “2 N I T E”  is a track produced by a very good friend and bandmate of mine. It’s planned to be a single in between my upcoming EP and the next release. It’s still in the rough stages but it’s one of my faves. There's gonna be a lit feature on it as well, but that's all I’m going to say.

How'd you meet Grosser?

Well, I moved here with a close friend from home who introduced me to a lot of homies in the music scene here. Grosser and I sort of just clicked and became good homies off the bat. Since then I've DJed a few shows for him, the most monumental being the YG show at House of Blues for the "Fuck Donald Trump" tour. It was a really sick and memorable experience.
