We applied and got accepted into FORM Arcosanti in Arizona. The anti-festival that Hundred Waters started last year at Arcosanti, a self described urban laboratory that was the beginning of architect Paolo Soleri's vision for a more efficient city. It's a remarkable place and even inspired George Lucas's set designs for Star Wars.
FORM's mission says, “It aims to imagine and accommodate meaningful and memorable settings for the participation, creation & enjoyment of music, art & ideas." Something they succeeded in creating.
For Bing & Ruth’s session, we proposed to the staff running FORM the idea of having him play outside in nature and true to their spirit, we were soon moving a baby grand piano to the edge of a cliff. There, Bing & Ruth would go on to perform a 20+ minute set for the couple dozen people who happened upon the moment on the last day of the festival. Many said it was one of their favorite performances of the weekend. Here's the first half of Bing & Ruth's performance.
