Clare and the Reasons “Make Them Laugh” - Philadelphia, PA - 09/12/2012
This was one of those spur of the moment session. Sure, we had planned it ahead of time, but we didn’t really set a location. All we knew was that we were going to meet Clare & the Reasons at the World Cafe Live in Philadelphia and that we would figure it out from there.
After meeting up with Clare in the lobby of the venue, we decided on a backstage area the band had discovered. It was a multi-purpose space for the venue and their restaurant where employees prepped food, stored their bicycles and took breaks. We’re pretty sure we weren’t supposed to be back there since the manager made it clear that it was for employees only. Luckily for us, he gave us a few more minutes to finish the session.
The band had brought along space foil for stage decoration, which led to it becoming decoration for their session as well. The crackling of the foil pops in the audio mix several times, but it just adds to the session. Clare & the Reasons played us a rendition “Make Them Laugh” off their recent LP “KR-51”. Enjoy.
